Daniel Clitnovici has been named the newest Director of Coaching for the Western New York Flash Academy, it was announced today.  Daniel, a native of Australia, replaces Aaran Lines who has held the position since the program’s inception in 2012. Lines will remain involved with the Academy as the Director of Soccer Operations where he will be overseeing the Academy as a whole.

“I am very excited to take on this role with the Western New York Flash Academy,” said Clitnovici. “I look forward to using my experiences to take the Flash Academy to the next level and help players and coaches be the best they can be on and off the field.”

“We are excited to welcome Daniel as the newest member of our staff. Daniel has proven success in growing and developing youth academies and we believe he can develop the Flash Academy into a platform for players in the area to reach the collegiate level,” said Lines. “It's our goal to have our youth academy as successful as our professional team and we believe Daniel will help us make the Flash Academy one of the premier programs in the Northeast.”

As the Director of Coaching, Clitnovici will oversee the development of the Flash Academy including players and coaches for the U9-U18 age groups. Daniel has an outstanding reputation across the USA and players throughout Western New York will benefit greatly from his knowledge, passion and teaching of the game.

Clitnovici will help spearhead the Flash Academy’s recently announced growth, as the program will be adding five additional teams for the 2015-16 season after a takeover of the Buffalo Soccer Academy’s girls teams. The merger grows the Flash Academy girls side, adding teams from U14-U18 and also adds an avenue for the boys side, as Flash teams will continue on to BSA after the Academy’s U12 level.

Clitnovici joins the Flash with an extensive coaching resume, having formerly served as the Director of Coaching at Northern Colorado Soccer Club and the Technical Director of Magic City Soccer Club. Daniel has also coached at the professional level as he is the former head coach for the Colorado Rapids Women, Colorado Rapids U20 Ladies and Colorado Pride Women. Clitnovici has also coached at the highest tiers of the college game, having been a part of several NCAA Division I, Division II and NAIA college programs.  In 2012, Daniel led the U20 Rapids Ladies to the a National title and, two years later, was named USL W-League Coach of the Year.

A former professional player, Clitnovici hold a USSF “A” license, an NCAA Advanced National license, FFA National Youth license and an FFA Goalkeeper Level 1 license. Prior to his move to the sideline, Clitnovici played professionally in his home country of Australia, Romania, England, Spain and Greece.
