04/30/2015 2:20 PM -

The Western New York Flash pros will be teaming up with the Western New York Flash Academy as part of a new mentoring program between the two clubs.

The Flash professional women’s players will be joining in at Academy practices, attending tryouts and cheering on the youth teams at tournaments over the summer. Each Academy team will have specific pro mentors from which they will be able to learn how to be successful and compete at the highest level of soccer.

As part of a recently announced expansion, the Flash Academy will also be holding a free ID Clinic on Friday, May 1. The ID Clinic will serve as a pre-tryout session for girls players age U13 to U17 who are looking to join the 2015-16 GU14 to GU18 squads.

Founded in 2012 with five teams, the Flash Academy has quickly grown to be one of the premier youth academies in the Northeast. Currently boasting 11 teams on both the boys and girls side, which will be expanded to 16 next year, the Academy trains out of the same facility as the pros, Sahlen Sports Park, in Elma, N.Y.
