TEN FLASH ACADEMY PLAYERS SELECTED TO U.S. SOCCER TRAINING CENTER
Program will take place January 22nd
BUFFALO, NY (Jan. 21, 2017) --- The Western New York Flash Academy announced today that ten players have been invited to attend the U.S. Soccer Training Center Program in New Jersey on Sunday, January 22nd, 2017.
The U.S. Soccer Girls’ Training Centers are designed to improve player identification, player development, and coach development. Training Centers are setup to provide high-level training for players in a motivating and challenging environment.
"It is great that these young players have been recognized and invited to participate in the US Soccer Training Camp,” Flash Academy Director of Coaching Rob Ferguson said. “This is an opportunity for the girls to train and compete outside their comfort zone and be evaluated in an environment designed to replicate US Soccer Youth National Team Camps. This is yet another positive step in the process of changing the landscape in western New York for area youth soccer players.”
Forwards Waniya Hudson, Shae O’Rourke, Gabriella Gambino, midfielders Molly McClelland, Brigid Molloy, Maddie Keister, Payton Payne, Sarah Woods, Nadia Nealon, and defender Simone Brock have all been selected to participate in the Training Center Program.
"The level of players coming through the Academy is very good and continues to get better with every day,” Ferguson added. “Along with the girls invited to this event, there is a good number of other young players that we expect to be a part of future events if they continue on their current track."
The 04G Pre-ECNL team led the Flash Academy with five players selected. The 03G ECNL team had two players selected, along with one player from the 02G ECNL team, the 01G ECNL team, and the 05G Red team.
