Flash add US U-23 National Team Member Toni Pressley

The Western New York Flash of the WPSL Elite League has announced they have signed US U-23 National Team Member Toni Pressley to their 2012 squad. The 22 year old comes to the Flash after a standout career at Florida State University.

Pressley concluded her four year playing career in Tallahassee tied for third at Florida State in game appearances with 96. She tallied 33 career points on 11 goals and 11 assists, while serving as a three-year starter on the Seminole backline. After appearing for the Noles in the NCAA Final Four, Pressley was drafted by the Philadelphia Independence in the 2nd round of the 2012 WPS Draft as the 13th overall pick. The Melbourne, Fl native was selected as a Soccer America MVP First-Team All-American, TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Season Third Team and NSCAA All-American Fourth Team in 2010. The two time MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List candidate also garnered NSCAA Southeast Region First Team honors, NSCAA Southeast Region First Team honors, All-ACC First team in 2010 and was named to the All ACC Tournament team in 2011.

Pressley comes to the Flash with substantial International experience. The defender was a member of the U.S. team that won the 2010 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championships in Guatemala to earn a berth to the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she started all five games of the tournament at center-back. Pressley has played in 19 total matches for the USA in 2010 before the U-20 Women’s World Cup. Prior to playing for the U-23's, Pressley played for the U.S. U-18s and also for the U-17's in 2006.

"Toni is a versatile player who has a good physical presence and will give us additional depth defensively," Head Coach Aaran Lines says. "She has a solid foundation from her collegiate and youth national team experience and we will look to build upon that as we integrate her into the squad."

The Flash are on the road this weekend against Paul Riley and the NY Fury on Sunday evening. The game is set to kickoff at 7 PM at Hofstra University.
