The Western New York Flash have won the inaugural NWSL regular season title, finishing with 38 points after 22 games.  The Flash end the year tied for first with FC Kansas City, however the Flash own the tiebreaker over the Blues to hold top of the table.

The Flash opened the season with just one point over their first three games, but used a nine-game unbeaten streak in the middle of the year and a current seven-game point streak to catapult up the standings. Now, on the final day of the regular season, the team finds themselves at the top of the table for the first time this year.

After the Flash beat Boston 2-1 on Saturday night to earn three points and tie Kansas City, the Blues were knocked off 2-1 by the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday, awarding Western New York the 2013 NWSL Shield.  The Flash will be presented with the hardware prior to their semifinal game, which will be held on August 24th against No. 4 Sky Blue FC.  Saturday’s other semifinal game pits No. 2 Kansas City against No. 3 Portland Thorns FC at Shawnee Mission District Stadium.

Kick-off times for both games will be announced on Monday. Potential start times are either 2 p.m. or 8 p.m. (ET).

Tickets for the Flash’s semifinal game at Sahlen’s Stadium will go on sale Monday afternoon at 12 p.m.  Flash season ticket holders will have until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday to purchase their reserved seats. They will also be allowed to purchase an additional four tickets as the discounted price.  The link for season ticket holders can be found here.

Following that deadline, all seats will be released to the public.

Ticket prices will remain consistent with the regular season: club ($25), premium ($18), sideline ($13).  Season ticket holders will receive discounted pricing in line with their season package prices.  To order tickets, please call the Sahlen’s Stadium box office at (585) 454-KICK or visit wnyflash.com.

Western New York and Sky Blue have faced each other four times already this year, with the Flash owning the regular season series at 3-1-0, including two 3-0 shutouts in their two final meetings.

With the top finish, the Flash also earn the right to host the 2013 Championship game, should the team advance beyond the opening round.  When playing at Sahlen’s Stadium, the Flash have posted an 8-1-2 record while outscoring opponents 21-7.  Western New York’s lone loss in Rochester came in their home opener against Boston back on April 27th.
