The WNY Flash is committed to providing the pathway for all of our young soccer player, boys and girls, to develop from young Jr. Academy players, all the way through the WNY Flash Academy, on to college rosters across the USA, and in to our Buffalo based UWS & NPSL teams.
United Women’s Soccer (UWS), a national women’s soccer league, sanctioned by U.S Soccer formed in 2015 with the belief that the league would fill a gap in the development of the female soccer player between the collegiate game and the professional & international game. This Tier 2 league has a competitive summer season to help the collegiate player evolve & enhance their game for fall competition, while giving the post-collegiate player a chance to further develop for professional and international level play. The UWS player pool is comprised of college players, aspiring & former professionals and international stars.
The Western New York Flash is one of twenty-three clubs fielding teams across the country in UWS for the 2018 Season. Training began in May and ends in a National Championship at the end of July. Our team will compete in 10 scheduled games in the East Conference: 5 home and 5 away. We are excited to announce our home field as Dobson Field at D’Youville College, across from Front Park in Buffalo, NY.
The Flash has been a storied soccer program for years after stints in the USL W-League, the WPS and most recently the NWSL. The club won their fifth title in eight years after capturing the 2016 NWSL Championship.
This year’s First XI top players in International play include Georgia Allen (U-20 England), Taylor Bennett (U-18 USA) and Charlotte Williams (U-23 USA). Also included are some of our top-level Flash Academy players. To be part of the action and be able to say, “I knew them when they played for the Flash!”
